John Lee Hooker - “The Waterfront”. One of my all-time favorite slow songs. I used to put this on mixes followed by the obviously indebted Jeff Buckley cover of “Satisfied Mind”.
This film, “Dogtooth”, is heavy, but this scene is most excellent.
Beautiful and sad.
Hilarious.
Well, I think you know I am an unabashed Sade fan. But me and Johnny are also huge fans of Milosh. His “Meme” album is fantastic and right up there with Sade’s “Lover’s Rock” as one of the best make-out albums of all time. Turns out he has a new band and now the hipsters love them. Rhye is their name and Pitchfork just gave them an 8.4.
This video features a solo piano version sung to his wife. We here at IL GATO Industries love us some sincerity. Enjoy!
Ben Gibbard has always been a great lyricist. But these “Oooohs” and instrument arrangement is awesome.
I have always loved Boyz II Men. From the time I wore a suit coat and shorts to my 8th grad dance to the time two nights ago I was talking about what an amazing album, “Cooleyhighharmony” still is.
