===== Polar Bears by Kickball =====

I can make the right decision by making my decision the right decision.
Opportunities. Opportunities.
Available is an ambition.
It depends on you to be decisive.
To make decisions.
But it’s hard to think about the girls you’d like to kiss when the world is ending.
The man on the news says that the polar bears will all be dead soon.
God fucking damn this shit!

”
— Just found out about this great band who seem to be now broken up. Their name is Kickball and they have early Bright Eyes vocals with instrumentation reminiscent of early Modest Mouse. And excellent lyrics.

“It’s gobbledygook; ‘Come Together’ was an expression that Timothy Leary had come up with for his attempt at being president or whatever he wanted to be, and he asked me to write a campaign song. I tried and tried, but I couldn’t come up with one. But I came up with this, ‘Come Together’, which would have been no good to him – you couldn’t have a campaign song like that, right?”
— Why not, John (on the genesis of “Come Together”)? Right?

“It was Keith’s great riff, and I wrote the rest. The funny thing was that it turned into this reggae song after two takes. And that take on ‘Tattoo You’ was the only take that was a complete rock and roll take. And then it went to reggae completely for about 20 takes, and that’s why everyone said, “Oh, that’s crap. We don’t want to use that.” And no one went back to Take 2, which was the one we used, the rock track.”
— Mick Jagger (describing “Start Me Up”). Believe it or not, but a fair amount of our songs wind up their way into reggae versions as well. Always surprising.

So I made that post about my favourite songs of 2012 (including taylor swift and gangnam style etc.) and people just hated on it.

I just don’t understand.

I mean, I do understand. I have my own issues with ‘the industry,’ I have issues with how it’s hard to compete with a bunch of people with…

Well, I think you know I am an unabashed Sade fan. But me and Johnny are also huge fans of Milosh. His “Meme” album is fantastic and right up there with Sade’s “Lover’s Rock” as one of the best make-out albums of all time. Turns out he has a new band and now the hipsters love them. Rhye is their name and Pitchfork just gave them an 8.4.

This video features a solo piano version sung to his wife. We here at IL GATO Industries love us some sincerity. Enjoy!

I have always loved Boyz II Men. From the time I wore a suit coat and shorts to my 8th grad dance to the time two nights ago I was talking about what an amazing album, “Cooleyhighharmony” still is.

You can order “Dogs/Demons” by clicking here. The price is $543.09. It’s available in a choice of three keys: C, D, or D-sharp. There’s an optional bridge (at additional cost) for $267.18. At the beginning of the recording of “Dogs/Demons,” I’ll say the date, time, location, the series number (like, “this is recording number 444″), and the full first, middle, and last name of the person who orders it. The recorder will be signed, and numbered, by me. →

M. Doughty. The future of music?

December 06, 2012 /Daimian Holiday Scott

A few years later, I came across a story about a song called “Sweet Leilani,” which Bing Crosby had released in 1937. Apparently, it was so popular that, by some estimates, the sheet music sold fifty-four million copies. Home-played music had been so widespread that nearly half the country had bought the sheet music for a single song, and had presumably gone through the trouble of learning to play it. →
